Triumph RJ5: the bridge jack that adjusts to your lift instead of the other way round

Most rolling bridge jacks are sold as an accessory to one specific four-post model, which is fine until you own a different one. The RJ5 is built the other way: its pad beam adjusts from about 32.2" out to about 59.8", and it is designed to sit across runways spaced roughly 31.4" to 47.2" apart. That range is the reason to look at this jack — it covers the runway spacing used by a broad spread of four-post lifts rather than a single family, so the jack you buy today is still useful if the lift underneath it changes.

What it does is simple and it is the thing that turns a four-post from a parking and inspection lift into a service lift: it raises the vehicle off its own wheels, while the vehicle stays on the lift. Brakes, rotors, tire rotations, hub bearings, spring and shock work — all of it needs a wheel in the air, and none of it is possible on a drive-on lift until something picks the car up off the runways.

It carries up to 5,000 lbs, which on a wheels-free jack is the axle-end figure that matters, and it rolls along the runways so you can put the pads exactly where the manufacturer's lift points are instead of settling for close enough.

Will It Fit?

A bridge jack is a fitment purchase before it is anything else. Two measurements decide it, and both are on your own lift, not on this page. Take them before ordering — fitment is the buyer's responsibility.

  • Runway spacing. Measure the gap your runways present, inside edge to inside edge, where the jack will sit. The RJ5 is intended for roughly 31.4" to 47.2". If your lift is outside that, no adapter fixes it.
  • Pad reach across the vehicle. The pad beam adjusts from about 32.2" to about 59.8". This is what has to reach your vehicle's lift points once the jack is sitting on the runways, and a wide truck and a narrow sports car sit at opposite ends of it.
  • Clearance under the vehicle. Collapsed height is about 8.6". That is the figure a low vehicle has to clear as the jack rolls underneath it, and it is worth checking against anything with a low exhaust, a belly pan or an aftermarket ride height.
  • Height you actually get. Maximum lift is about 22.5" measured at the pad — enough to bring a wheel clear with room to work, not enough to treat it as a second lift.
  • Receiving it. Shipping weight is about 600 lbs. It arrives crated and it is not a two-person lift off a truck.

Rolling, and why that is not a convenience feature

A jack that rolls along the runways sounds like a nicety until you have used one that does not. Vehicle lift points are not in the same place on any two models, and a fixed-position jack forces a compromise: pads placed where the jack allows rather than where the chassis is designed to be supported. That is how pinch welds get crushed and how floor pans get dented.

The RJ5 rolls to the point, then the adjustable pad beam sets the width, so both axes of placement are yours. On a job where you are lifting one end, moving the jack, and lifting the other, the difference shows up as minutes saved per vehicle and a lot fewer marks on customers' cars.

The hydraulic pump gives controlled lift and, more importantly, controlled lowering. Coming down slowly and predictably with a wheel-off vehicle in the air is the half of the cycle that matters most, and it is where a cheap jack announces itself.

The height adapters are in the box

Included 4" height adapters extend the pads upward for vehicles whose lift points sit higher above the runway — trucks, SUVs and anything with meaningful ground clearance. It is worth calling out because adapters are the classic line item a buyer discovers is extra after the jack arrives and will not reach. Here they ship with the unit.

Steel construction throughout, which is what a component that spends its life being rolled, dropped onto and loaded needs to be. A bridge jack takes abuse that the lift itself never sees.

Perfect For

  • Home garages with a four-post. The single accessory that converts a storage-and-inspection lift into one you can do brakes and tires on.
  • Independent shops. Wheels-free service on a drive-on lift without tying up a two-post bay.
  • Collectors and storage stacks. Get a wheel off the ground for tire rotation and brake checks on vehicles that live on the lift.
  • Anyone with a mixed fleet. The pad and runway adjustment range is what lets one jack serve a car, a truck and an SUV.

What's in the Box

The RJ5 ships as a rolling bridge jack with its hydraulic pump, its adjustable pad assembly and a set of 4" height adapters. Anything beyond that — additional pads, taller adapters, lift-specific hardware — is separate. If you are matching this jack to a particular lift and want it confirmed before you order, ask us; a two-minute check against your runway measurement is worth more than a return.

Certification, stated plainly

We do not list a third-party safety listing for this jack and we are not going to imply one. If your insurance policy, your fleet standard or your local jurisdiction requires shop equipment carrying a listing from a named independent testing body, verify that requirement against this product's documentation before purchase rather than assuming it. Separately, and regardless of any listing: a bridge jack is a lifting device used under a vehicle that is already in the air. Use it only within the capacity above, only on a lift whose runways it properly spans, and never as a substitute for the lift's own locks.

Shipping and delivery

Ships by freight within the lower 48 on a pallet. The freight cost is quoted live at checkout against your address — that is why there is no shipping figure printed here.

Receiving is the buyer's side of the transaction. Have a forklift, a dock, or the equipment to get a crate of this weight off a truck safely, or select terminal pickup and collect it. Residential delivery is offered and carries a residential fee added at checkout. Pickup from our Triumph warehouse locations is available.

Inspect it on the tailgate, not in the shop. Look the crate over while the driver is still there, and record any damage on the bill of lading before you sign. Signing clean is signing that it arrived intact. Take photographs of anything doubtful and contact us the same day so we can start the claim while the evidence is fresh.

Warranty

The manufacturer's warranty applies and the current terms are on our warranty claims page. One warning worth repeating: do not disassemble anything before a claim is filed. If the pump, a seal or the pad assembly fails, leave it as it is, photograph it and call. A component that has been opened up generally cannot be assessed, and an assessable failure is what a warranty claim depends on.
