Schulz SRP 3015 Compact — 51 CFM from a 15 HP Screw on a 60-Gallon Receiver

This model is the clearest illustration in the Schulz range of what a duty-cycle rating actually buys. It puts 51 CFM at 125 PSI through a 60-gallon receiver: a lot of output for that much storage. On a piston compressor that ratio would be a recipe for an overheated machine and a short life, because a piston unit needs the tank to cover the time it is not allowed to run. A screw rated for a continuous 100% duty cycle does not need covering. It simply keeps making air.

So the 3015 Compact is a machine that leans on its rating rather than its tank — a belt-driven, oil-injected rotary screw air end in an open, unenclosed 2-in-1 frame, with the compressor mounted directly on its own horizontal ASME receiver.

Two figures to confirm before you order

Neither is a reason not to buy the machine; both are reasons to have one short conversation first.

Supply voltage. Published figures differ: the model designation and the specification field for this product both read 460 Volt three-phase, while the motor line inside the manufacturer's own description reads 208-230 Volt three-phase. Those are not the same supply and they are not interchangeable at the panel. Confirm the voltage with us in writing before you place the order or book an electrician — we will get it straight from Schulz.

Overall dimensions. Published figures differ here too. The manufacturer's description gives the unit as 53" long, 18" deep and 42" high; the specification block gives 53" long, 24" wide and 55" high. The length agrees; the depth and height do not. If the machine is going into a tight alcove, under a mezzanine or through a specific doorway, ask us to confirm the measurements against the current factory sheet rather than planning to the smaller set.

Why 100% duty cycle is the specification that matters here

A reciprocating compressor's rating is a percentage of each hour. The badge output is a peak you are supposed to discount, and the receiver exists partly to hide the rest periods from you. Get the sums wrong and the machine runs hot, the oil thins and the rings go early.

A screw air end has no reciprocating mass and no valve train to hammer itself apart, and this one carries no rest requirement at all. That is why 51 CFM is a planning number rather than an optimistic one, and why a 60-gallon receiver is sufficient behind it: the tank smooths demand, it does not buy the compressor time off.

Open frame: what you gain and what you accept

There is no acoustic cabinet on this model, and that cuts both ways. The gain is access and cooling — belts, oil sight glass, cooler, drain and electrical panel are all in front of you, so a routine service is short and a developing fault is visible rather than hidden. Nothing restricts airflow over the machine either, which is one less thing to design around in a warm room.

What you accept is noise. An open screw compressor is audible across a building, and the product data for this model records a dBA value as a bare number with no unit attached to it. Under our own rules we do not print a figure whose unit the data has not established, so we will not quote it here. If sound level is part of your decision, ask us and we will confirm the current published figure in writing, or point you at the enclosed models in the range instead.

Will It Fit?

The 2-in-1 layout means one object to place rather than a compressor plus a tank plus a pipe run. The unit weighs 463 lbs and the tank outlet is 3/4". For the overall dimensions, see the note above — the two published figures are 53" × 18" × 42" and 53" × 24" × 55", so confirm with us which one applies to your unit before you plan the space.

Whichever is correct, the siting rules are the same. It needs a flat, solid slab, because 463 lbs on four feet will find every low spot in a floor. It needs air moving around it, more so than an enclosed machine rather than less. And it needs the supply settled in advance: Schulz records the amp draw and the recommended breaker as "consult a certified electrician", which is the honest answer because cable sizing follows your run length and local code. Confirming supply, panel capacity and breaker is the customer's responsibility — and on this machine that starts with confirming the voltage.

Control and protection

The machine is managed by a 24 Volt microprocessor controller with adjustable operating parameters and a constant readout, which is why faults on these are usually diagnosable rather than mysterious. The automatic starter carries phase and sequence failure detection: cross two phases on a three-phase screw and the air end runs backwards, which can destroy it in seconds. This starter blocks the start instead. A magnetic starter is fitted, and the machine is supplied with an air filter.

Not fitted: the data records no after-cooler, no air dryer and no electronic drain valve on this model. Moisture handling, filtration, regulation, pipework and the electrical connection are separate items.

The receiver is ASME certified — the pressure vessel is built and stamped to a recognised code. That is the claim this product's data supports, and on a tank working at 125 PSI it is the one that matters most.

No independent third-party listing is recorded for the packaged machine, meaning the motor, starter, controller and frame assessed together as one product. The vessel stamp is not that, and we will not let it read as though it were. Where an insurer, a corporate facilities standard or a local electrical inspector requires the second kind of document on hard-wired plant, ask us before you order and we will tell you in writing what exists today.

Shipping

Palletised freight to the lower 48 states, priced live at checkout against your address rather than pulled from a table.

Arrange the unload beforehand. The carrier delivers to the tailgate only, so 463 lbs on a pallet wants a forklift, a dock, or a pallet jack on flat hard ground. Where none of those exist, terminal pickup lets you collect from the freight depot on your own terms. Deliveries to a home address are residential and carry a residential fee. Collection is also possible from our Schulz pickup location in Acworth, Georgia.

Inspect before signing and write any damage onto the bill of lading in front of the driver. That note is what keeps a claim alive.
