Most compressors are sold on one flow number. The Q13160VQ is published with two — 14.6 CFM at 40 PSI and 12.8 CFM at 100 PSI — and that pair is the most useful thing on this page, because it is the only honest way to work out whether a compressor will actually keep up with your tools.

Everything else follows from it: a single-stage cast-iron pump, belt driven, on a vertical 60-gallon tank, for light commercial work and serious do-it-yourself projects.

How to read two flow points

A compressor delivers more air at low pressure than at high, always. Quoting one figure without the pressure it was measured at is how two machines end up looking identical on paper and behaving nothing alike in a workshop.

With both points published you can do the sum properly. Add up the air demand of the tools you will genuinely run at the same time, at the pressure they actually need, and compare it against the figure at that pressure. A brad nailer at low pressure and an orbital sander at working pressure are entirely different loads, and the difference between 14.6 CFM and 12.8 CFM across that range is exactly the information you need to tell them apart.

The maximum pressure is 135 PSI and the machine is fitted with a regulator, so the line pressure you set is separate from what the tank holds. Note that this is a single-stage pump: it is built for intermittent, varied work rather than the continuous high-pressure duty of the two-stage machines in this range. That is the right choice for most home and light commercial shops, and the wrong one for a production line.

What to confirm about the electrics

Published figures for the supply voltage differ: the product title and the voltage field for this product both give 230 Volt, while a separate motor field in the specification data gives 130 Volt. Each figure is attributed to its source here rather than one being picked for you.

Treat 230 Volt, 1-Phase as the working assumption — it is what the title, the voltage field and the original manufacturer copy all state — and confirm it with us before any wiring is ordered or any circuit is run. We will check it against a current Quincy sheet and put the answer in writing. It is a two-minute question and it is much cheaper asked now.

Built to last, and what that is made of

The cylinder, valve plate and crankshaft are cast iron, and Quincy rates the pump beyond 10,000 hours. The head is aluminium with a special fin design, which is a cooling decision — a single-stage pump has no intercooler to lean on, so getting heat out of the head is the whole thermal strategy, and heat is what thins oil and shortens valve life.

Every unit is factory tested at 100% of full pressure before it leaves the plant. That is a real, checkable claim and worth more than most of what appears in feature lists.

Control is a start-stop pressure switch: the machine starts when tank pressure drops and stops when it recovers, which is the appropriate arrangement for intermittent work. There is an oil sight glass for the weekly check, and a fully enclosed belt guard that protects both the operator and the belt. Note that the tank drain is manual — no electronic drain valve is fitted, and draining it is the routine that decides whether the receiver rusts.

Will it fit, and what will it need?

The 60-gallon tank stands upright: about 30" by 22" of floor and roughly 68" tall. Measure to the underside of whatever is above the intended spot, and leave reach room for the gauge, the regulator, the sight glass and the drain.

Quincy specifies a 30 Amp breaker for this machine, which is a real circuit rather than an existing socket — plan on a dedicated one. There is no magnetic starter fitted, so discuss the switchgear with your electrician, and let them size conductors and protection for the length of your run and your local code.

At 261 lbs this is the lightest stationary machine in the range, but it is still tall, so a flat, solid, level pad matters. A tall tank on an uneven floor works its own mounts loose over time. The outlet is 1/2", and no air dryer or filtration is fitted.

The data behind this listing claims a coded pressure vessel built to the American standard for the tank, and UL and CSA recognition on the electrical components. Both are genuine claims and both are worth having on a machine that will be hard-wired and left running.

Neither amounts to a third-party safety listing of the complete machine as installed in your building. That is a separate document, and some insurers, fleet standards and local inspectors ask for it by name on fixed equipment — a point with a little extra weight here, since no starter is fitted and the switchgear is therefore partly your specification. We will not let a tank stamp imply something broader. If that listing is a condition of your cover or your inspection, ask us before ordering.

Sort the unload before you order. The carrier's obligation ends at the tailgate, so a dock, a forklift, or a pallet jack on level ground is what you want on site — this is the lightest stationary machine here but it is not a two-person lift off a truck bed. Terminal pickup is the alternative if you have no equipment. Delivery to a home address is residential and carries a residential fee.

Inspect it before signing. Damage written on the bill of lading with the driver present is claimable; damage found afterwards on a clean signature usually is not. Photograph the pallet and the crate and record anything that looks wrong.

Warranty

A 1-Year factory warranty applies, and it extends to Quincy's 3-Year "No Bull" warranty when the maintenance kit is purchased with the machine. That is a condition, not a formality, and it is the reason the kit is worth deciding on at the time of order rather than later — the extended cover includes on-site and labour service and covers defects in materials and workmanship, which is a strong position to hold on a machine you intend to keep.
