22.6 CFM at 175 PSI, continuously, from a patch of floor about the size of a shipping pallet. That is the case for this machine in a sentence. The vertical receiver puts the whole 80-gallon reserve and the entire 7.5 HP pump inside a footprint of roughly 37" by 24", which in a shop where floor area is measured in bays and benches is the difference between the compressor being in the building and the compressor being in the way.
It runs on 208V 3-Phase supply and is rated for a 100% duty cycle — a continuous rating rather than a headline one.
Confirm these two things before you order
Automatic drain and low-oil protection. An earlier description on this page described an integrated condensate drain system and an internal oil-level sensor that stops the motor when lubrication falls too low; the specification record for this model gives neither — no electronic drain valve, and no pump low-oil shutdown. Work on the basis that you drain the receiver yourself and read the oil on the sight glass, and if you want an automatic tank drain, ask us to quote one with the machine.
The model code. The web address of this page carries a code that is not quite the one in the heading and in the specification record, which read 473DS80VCB20. Send us the code from your quote and we will confirm the exact build in writing before anything ships.
The floor-space argument, made properly
A vertical and a horizontal receiver of the same capacity hold the same air. What differs is which dimension of your building they consume. Standing up, this machine takes about 37" by 24" and gives you height — roughly 74" of it. Lying down, the same capacity would occupy a strip well over five feet long against a wall.
Choose accordingly, and be honest about your ceiling. Before you commit to a corner, look above it: lighting, ducting, sprinkler heads, mezzanine edges and roll-up door tracks all live in the range this machine needs, and you want enough clearance above the pump to reach the oil fill and pull the belt guard, not simply enough to stand the tank up. If any of that is marginal, the horizontal version of this same compressor exists and we would rather sell you that one.
What 22.6 CFM supports
Delivered air, not tank size, is what determines whether a shop runs out. The receiver buffers peaks; the pump is the supply. A single technician with an impact wrench, a ratchet and a blow gun uses a fraction of this. Two or three bays working simultaneously, or one bay running a continuous-consumption tool like a sander or a blast cabinet, is where the figure starts to matter.
The honest way to size it is to add up the continuous consumption of the tools you expect to run at the same time, not the tools you own, and leave headroom above that total. If the answer lands close to 22.6 CFM, tell us what you are running and we will say so plainly rather than sell you a machine that will disappoint you.
How it is built
Two-stage compression with a high-efficiency finned intercooler between the stages: a large cylinder does the coarse work, the intercooler takes out the heat that work created, and a small cylinder finishes the job at 175 PSI. Both cylinders are cast iron under an aluminum head. The flywheel is a large balanced cast iron casting that damps the pulses and fans cooling air over the pump. The drive is by belt, so the pump turns well below motor speed, and the whole assembly is splash lubricated in a cast iron crankcase.
Nothing there is novel, and that is the point. Slow, heavy and cool is why this pump family is rated for a service life in the tens of thousands of hours rather than in seasons, and why the parts that wear are the parts you can service.
Power and siting
The motor is wound for 208V 3-Phase and cannot be reconfigured — if your service is single-phase or three-phase at a different level, this is the wrong member of the family and we will point you at the right one. A magnetic starter is included. Our record specifies an 80 Amp breaker for this build; have your electrician confirm the circuit, the disconnect and the protection against your panel and your local code before you order.
The machine weighs around 740 lbs on a small base, so it wants flat, sound concrete, proper levelling and securing, and clear air around the pump. Enclosing a compressor in a cupboard is the most reliable way to shorten its life. Confirming the supply, providing the circuit and providing a floor that will take the load are the buyer's responsibility.

Certification, stated plainly
Quincy's specification sheet lists ASME for the pressure vessel and UL and CSA for the electrical components. A tank code stamp and an electrical safety mark answer different questions, and neither answers the one your inspector or your insurer might ask about a receiver of this size in your building. Where a particular listing or filing is a condition of cover, check it against the data plate before buying; we will supply what the manufacturer publishes.
Warranty
The unit carries a 1-year factory warranty, extending to a 3-year "No Bull" warranty through Quincy's programme, on conditions Quincy sets — registration among them. We will confirm in writing which conditions apply to this model before you order. Whatever happens, do not take the pump apart before a claim is agreed; a stripped pump cannot be assessed.
Freight and delivery
Freight on a pallet, lower 48 states only. Have a forklift or pallet jack at the delivery address or take terminal pickup and bring a trailer. Residential delivery carries a residential fee, and the freight itself is quoted live at checkout rather than printed here where it would go stale.
Inspect the pallet before signing — tank, guard, motor, gauges — and note anything wrong on the bill of lading while the driver is still on site. Once you have signed clean, a damage claim becomes very hard to win.
