The number worth knowing on this machine is 1,750 RPM. That is how fast the motor turns the pump, and it is slow — deliberately, expensively slow. Everything a compressor does badly, it does because of heat and speed: rings wear, oil thins, valves carbon up, and the room gets loud. Turning the pump more slowly attacks all four at once, and it is the least fashionable durability decision a manufacturer can make.

Slow speed, and what it is worth

A pump can be made to produce a given volume of air by being large and unhurried or small and frantic. The second is cheaper to build. The pump also runs a low oil carryover, so very little oil mist leaves with the air, which matters if the line will ever feed finish work.

Will it fit?
