The number after the horsepower in this model code is the working pressure, and it is the single most important thing on the page. This is the 125 psi version of the 10 HP QRS airend: it delivers 40 CFM at 125 psi and unloads at 125 psi, sitting on a 132 gallon horizontal receiver. Chicago Pneumatic builds the range in Italy through Atlas Copco, and the airend is rated for 100% duty.
Pressure choice is not a detail buyers should skip past, so we will deal with it before the features. Compressed-air tools carry a rated inlet pressure, and most automotive air tooling is happy well under 125 psi at the tool. What catches people out is everything between the compressor and the tool: a long header, undersized pipe, a coiled hose, a quick-coupler and a regulator all take a bite out of the pressure the tool actually sees. There is a real engineering reason this variant exists. A compressor spends energy making pressure, and a screw airend asked for less of it returns more free air for the same horsepower. Running a shop at a pressure it actually needs, rather than at the highest number available, is one of the few efficiency measures in a compressed-air system that costs nothing to implement — it lowers the energy per cubic foot and it lowers the leak rate, because leaks flow harder at higher pressure. Shops that measure their air costs generally end up specifying pressure downward, not upward. If your tooling is content at 125 psi, this build is the one to buy.
Continuous duty, in practice
The 100% duty rating means the machine has no mandated rest period. That is not marketing shorthand; it is the design difference between a rotary screw and a reciprocating compressor. A piston unit is rated to run for a fraction of each hour, and when a shop exceeds that rating the machine runs hot and its service life collapses. A screw compressor is sized by demand alone. In a shop with four or five people pulling air through the middle of the day, that is the difference between a compressor that is a maintenance item and one that is furniture.
The receiver, the moisture, and the drain nobody checks
The 132 gallon horizontal tank is not there to smooth pulses — a screw airend already delivers continuously. It buffers simultaneous demand, so pressure at the far end of the shop does not sag while the machine comes on load, and it gives water a cool place to fall out of the air stream. That second job is the one that goes wrong in practice: a receiver drain that is never opened turns the tank into a reservoir of water that eventually reaches your tools and your paint work. Put the drain on a schedule, or fit an automatic one. There is no dryer in this package, so any spray or instrument air needs drying and filtration downstream of the receiver.

Approvals, stated plainly
The claim this data supports is narrow and we will keep it that way: the control panel is UL, cUL and CSA approved and the enclosure is NEMA 1. That covers the electrical panel.
