BendPak V-Max Patriot 7580V-603: the compressor that drains itself

Ask any shop what actually killed their last air system and the answer is water, not wear. Condensate sits in the bottom of a tank, rusts it from the inside, carries down the line and ruins spray work, air tools and blast media. Every compressor comes with a drain valve. Almost nobody opens it often enough.

The 7580V-603 is specified with an electronic drain valve fitted from the factory, so tank draining happens on a timer rather than on somebody's memory. Combine that with the built-in intercooler and the air-cooled after-cooler, which condense moisture out before it ever reaches the tank, and you have a machine designed around the failure mode that ends most compressors early.

Underneath that it is a straightforward heavy-duty machine: 7.5 HP, 3-Phase, a two-stage four-cylinder pump cast in 100% iron, feeding an 80-Gallon vertical tank, rated 26 CFM at 175 PSI.

The moisture problem, and the three things this machine does about it

Between the stages. Air leaving the first cylinder is hot. The intercooler drops its temperature before the second cylinder compresses it again. Cooler air holds less water vapour, so moisture starts falling out of suspension before the air is anywhere near the tank.

After the pump. The air-cooled after-cooler takes another bite out of the discharge temperature. This is the stage that decides how much water arrives at your tank rather than at your air tools, and it is the reason a two-stage machine with an after-cooler delivers noticeably drier air than a single-stage unit of similar output.

At the bottom of the tank. Whatever still condenses gets removed automatically by the electronic drain instead of accumulating until somebody notices. That is the part you would otherwise have to build into a maintenance routine and then actually follow.

None of this replaces a refrigerated dryer if you are spraying finish coats. It does mean the compressor itself is not the thing corroding.

Will It Fit?

  • Three-phase only. The 7580V-603 is a 3-Phase machine on 208-230V service at 60 Hz. There is no single-phase mode. If your building is single-phase, the single-phase version of this compressor exists and is the one to order.
  • Circuit size. BendPak's recommendation for this model is a 50 Amp breaker. Give that to your electrician along with the run length; conductor sizing is their call, not ours.
  • Starter. A magnetic starter is specified as fitted, which means thermal overload protection is part of the machine rather than something the installer adds.
  • Floor. Vertical tank, 880 lbs. (399 kg). Plan how it gets from the truck to its final position and how it is stood upright; that is the awkward part of a vertical compressor delivery, not the weight.
  • Air around it. The pump is air-cooled and finned. Leave clearance for airflow and for reaching the valves from above.

Siting, ventilation, the electrical supply and permits are the customer's responsibility. We will check any published figure against the factory documentation before you order if you ask.

Slow pump, long life

The motor turns at 1,750 RPM. The pump, driven through dual belts, turns at 625 RPM. Running the pump at roughly a third of motor speed is what produces the 78 dB rating and, more importantly, means each component sees a fraction of the cycles per hour that a direct-drive machine racks up for the same volume of air. Dual belts also share the load, which keeps tension per belt low and takes stress off the pump bearings.

The pump is a "V-4" finned-cylinder arrangement giving 360° cooling, with heavy-duty disc valves that can be reached without removing a cylinder head or breaking into the compressor piping. Cast iron cylinders and heads hold their shape under sustained heat, where aluminium blocks with pressed-in sleeves distort. Tapered roller main bearings support the crankshaft across its full length and needle-type piston pin bearings spread the load at the small end.

Perfect For

  • Body and paint shops. The moisture story above is the entire reason.
  • Busy multi-bay service shops. Continuous duty cycle, cast iron, ASME tank.
  • Manufacturing and fleet maintenance. Three-phase service is normally already there.
  • Shops with a floor plan problem. The vertical 80-Gallon tank buys back floor area against a horizontal machine of the same volume.

What's in the Box

Three things to confirm before you order

Published figures for this compressor differ in three places. Each one is set out below with the source it came from, so you can see straight away whether it affects your installation.

Overall dimensions The spec sheet carries two sets. One reads 45" by 1,016 mm by 1,981 mm, with 1,143 mm on the long side. A separate listing on the same sheet reads 610 mm, 1,829 mm and 864 mm — and labels two of those three rows "Depth", which is plainly a transcription error. If the footprint decides whether this machine fits, ask us in writing and we will confirm it with the factory before you order.
Lubrication system The feature copy on this page describes splash lubrication. The product's own specification field records full pressure lubrication. Those are different systems with different service implications. If that matters to your maintenance planning, ask us to confirm it in writing.
Country of origin BendPak's own text for this machine says "Assembled in USA". The product title on this page says "Made in USA". Those are not identical claims — assembly in the USA does not by itself establish where each component was made. If country of origin decides your purchase, ask us in writing and we will confirm it with BendPak before you order.

Certification

The manufacturer's specification for this model states certification to UL, CSA and ASME. In practice the ASME stamp is the one your inspector or insurer will ask about, because it governs the pressure vessel and the safety valve — the parts holding 175 PSI. We can supply the certification paperwork on request rather than leaving you with a claim on a web page.

Pick up and delivery

BendPak pick-up is listed at Santa Paula, California and Theodore, Alabama. Stock location moves, so confirm a collection with us before you drive: call, text or chat on 866-774-7743.

For delivery, this is a freight shipment inside the lower 48 states, quoted live at checkout against your own address. You are responsible for getting it off the truck — forklift, dock, or terminal pickup arranged with the carrier. Residential delivery carries an extra fee and it is shown to you at checkout. Check the crate over before signing anything, and write any damage on the bill of lading at the moment of delivery. After a clean signature, a freight claim is an uphill argument.

Warranty

BendPak's warranty is published as its own document, linked on this page, rather than as a term inside this product's data — so no length is quoted here. Whatever it says, protect the claim the same way: photograph the fault, leave the assembly together, and speak to us before anything is opened up. A component taken apart before assessment is usually a component that is no longer covered.
