Ranger RB24T Truck Wheel Balancer / Complete with Deluxe Adapter Kit and Quick-Chuck

The specification worth reading twice on this machine is the electrical one. The RB24T drives a 380V three-phase motor — and its power supply is 208 – 240V, 50 / 60 Hz, 1 Ph. It bridges the two itself with a built-in digital solid-state phase converter, which produces three-phase output regardless of whether the building gives it single or three-phase power.

That is not a footnote, it is the buying decision. Three-phase motors start heavy wheels under load without the capacitors, extra windings and starting switches a single-phase motor of the same output needs, and on a truck balancer spinning a loaded commercial wheel that is exactly what you want. Ordinarily that means running three-phase service into the bay, which is an electrician, a permit and a bill. Here it does not. A workshop on single-phase power gets a genuine three-phase drive without rewiring the building.

A truck balancer, not a car balancer with bigger cones

The distinction matters and the market blurs it. Plenty of machines sold for truck work are standard balancers supplied with larger cones; they hold the wheel, but they were never designed to start and stop that mass quickly, and cycle time is where a truck bay makes its money.

The RB24T takes tires up to 50" (1,270 mm) in diameter, wheels to 30" (762 mm) and widths from 2" to 20" (51 mm - 508 mm), with a maximum tire weight of 400 lbs. (181 kg). It balances at 220 RPM — deliberately low, because spinning a heavy commercial assembly fast is neither necessary nor safe — and a cycle takes 7 - 10 seconds on average. Stopping is handled by electro-magnetic pulse control combined with a pneumatic brake, which also holds the wheel still at top dead centre while the weight is placed.

The 500 lb wheel lift

An integrated wheel lift raises assemblies to the shaft with a push button, rated to 500 lbs., with a bearing-mounted slider that positions the wheel for mounting. One-handed operation is the specific design point: the technician's other hand stays on the wheel to steady it.

This is the feature that decides whether the machine gets used properly. A truck wheel that has to be manhandled onto a shaft is a wheel that gets balanced less often than it should, and it is a back injury waiting for a Friday afternoon. The lift is why the RB24T is a machine any technician can run.

Measuring: quartz sensors and Drive-Check

The RB24T reads imbalance through dual-component piezoelectric quartz load sensors paired with a digital rotation encoder, measuring longitudinal, transversal and shear effects together rather than inferring them from a single axis. Quartz sensors respond at high frequency, which is what allows small imbalances on a large mass to be resolved at all.

Drive-Check runs a driving simulation before the measurement, so the wheel is assessed under conditions closer to the road than to a bench, and it also looks for run-out on both rim and tire — the fault no amount of weight will fix, and one worth finding before the wheel goes back on the truck. The machine then calculates the minimum weight needed rather than the first weight that works, which on truck wheels is a real consumable saving over a year.

Behind that sits 64-bit single-chip architecture with a dedicated high-speed link to the processor: fewer components to maintain, and less heat on a machine that runs all day.

Mounting: quick-chuck, flange plate and the cone kit

Three mounting systems are included, and between them they cover the range from a light truck wheel to an OTR assembly.

The self-centring quick-chuck is a three-jaw design with a forged steel body and hardened wheel supports and gear slides; it lifts, holds and centres a heavy wheel without the operator taking the weight, and set-up accuracy does not fall away as the wheel gets heavier. The adjustable flange plate and stud kit carries multi-position interchangeable pins that adapt to different lug bolt circles. The cone kit is six pieces — five standard cones plus one dual tapered cone — covering 2.00" - 2.75", 2.75" - 4.00", 4.00" - 5.75", 6.00" - 6.50", 6.75" - 8.00", 8.25" - 9.00", and 10.75" - 11.50". The shaft is a precision-machined, hardened steel 40 mm.

Will It Fit?

Electrically, the answer is unusually easy: 208 – 240V, 50 / 60 Hz, 1 Ph into the machine. Confirm the circuit rating with your electrician before delivery — that confirmation is the customer's responsibility — but you should not need a new service.

Physically, allow room to roll a commercial wheel to the machine and stand it up, plus clearance for the open-sided hood to close over a wide assembly, plus reach for the operator at the display. As with any balancer, the floor under it needs to be level and solid; a machine that rocks measures its own movement.

Confirm the crated weight before you plan the unload. Published figures for the shipping weight differ: the specification row on this page reads 25 lbs. (374 kg), while a separate product data field records 824 Lbs. Since that number decides whether you need a forklift or a pallet jack, confirm the crated weight with us in writing before ordering — we will check it against Ranger's current specification sheet.

Perfect For

  • Commercial tire dealers running truck, bus and OTR wheels through the bay all day.
  • Fleet workshops balancing their own wheels rather than sending them out.
  • Shops on single-phase supply that want a three-phase drive without paying to bring in a new service — the machine's defining feature.
  • Mixed operations — the cone kit and flange plate reach down to light truck wheels, so it is not a single-purpose machine.

What's in the Box

The balancer with its integrated 500 lbs. wheel lift, pneumatic brake, open-sided hood, LED weight-position indicators, touch-pad display, top weight tray, side shelf storage and side cone storage pegs; the self-centring quick-chuck kit; the adjustable flange plate and stud kit; and the six-piece cone kit — five standard cones and one dual tapered cone — on a 40 mm hardened steel shaft. Balancing modes cover dynamic, static and three alloy settings, with gram or ounce and millimetre or inch selection, plus a self-calibration function.

Certification, honestly

The product data for this balancer claims no independent safety listing, and we will not add one to make the section look finished. A manufacturer's own conformity statement is a different document from a third-party laboratory listing, and fleet operators, insurers and workplace inspectors frequently ask for the second by name on powered shop equipment.

If that applies to your operation, ask us before you order and we will confirm what documentation Ranger issues for this model. On a machine that spins a 400 lbs. assembly behind a hood, it is a reasonable question to ask.

Shipping and delivery

Crated freight to the lower 48 states, quoted live at checkout for your own address rather than estimated from a table.

As noted above, confirm the crated weight with us before you commit to an unload plan. In any case the driver's responsibility ends at the tailgate, so a forklift or a loading dock is the sensible arrangement, with a pallet jack on level ground as the minimum. If neither is available, take terminal pickup and collect from the carrier's yard. A home address is a residential delivery and carries a residential fee. In-person collection is also available from the pickup locations listed further down this page.

Inspect it before you sign. Damage written onto the bill of lading with the driver present is claimable; damage found after a clean signature usually is not. Check the display panel and the hood especially — those are what a forklift tine finds first.

Warranty

The Ranger warranty document for this balancer is linked in the downloads on this page. Its term and conditions are what a claim is settled against, so read them there rather than take a summary from us.

One rule of ours protects that cover: if the drive, the phase converter or a sensor develops a fault, leave the machine assembled and call us. Once a control board or a sensor mount has been disturbed, nobody can establish what failed first, and a claim on a part-stripped machine is a very difficult conversation.
