Description
-Katool KT-T830: mass, a bigger bead breaker, and two assist arms
A tire changer earns its money on the wheels that fight back. Anyone can mount a worn passenger tire on a steel rim. The machine shows its class on a stiff low-profile sidewall, a run-flat with a reinforced shoulder, or a bead that has been sitting corroded onto a flange for six winters.
The KT-T830 is built specifically for that end of the work, and three published figures say so. It weighs 240 kg (529 lbs), which is meaningfully more than the lighter machines in the range. Its bead breaker is driven by a stainless cylinder measuring 186 mm (7.32"). And it carries double-side assist arms rather than leaving the operator and a mounting bar to do the persuading. If your work is routine, you do not need this machine. If it is not, this is the specification that changes your day.
Why the weight is a feature, not a shipping cost
Breaking a stubborn bead applies a large, sudden, off-centre force to the machine. A light changer answers that force by moving: the cabinet rocks, the shovel skates along the sidewall instead of driving straight into the bead seat, and the operator compensates by leaning on it. At 240 kg (529 lbs) the KT-T830 has the mass to stay where it was put and put the energy into the tire.
The 186 mm (7.32") stainless bead-breaker cylinder is the other half of the same argument. A longer, larger-bore cylinder produces its force over a longer stroke, which means the shovel keeps pushing as the bead moves rather than reaching the end of its travel against the hardest part of the job. Stainless is chosen because the cylinder lives in the splash zone for tire lube and shop water.
Double-side assist arms and the tires that need them
A run-flat or an extreme low-profile tire has a sidewall that will not fold out of the way on its own. Without help, the technician holds the bead down with a lever while trying to rotate the turntable, which is how rims get marked and hands get hurt. Assist arms hold the bead in the drop centre mechanically and stay there. Two of them, one either side, means the tire is controlled at both the mounting head and the opposite quarter, which is the arrangement that actually makes a reinforced sidewall behave.
Backing them up is a bead blast seater head with a post tank, so a tire that will not take air conventionally can be seated with a rapid charge instead of repeated attempts. Air arrives regulated, through a lubricator and filter that keep water and grit out of the pneumatic circuit, with the working range topping out at 145 PSI.
Rim protection, in the parts that wear
The jaws are alloy steel, case-hardened at the gripping faces to a depth of 0.8 to 1.1 mm over a fully quenched core, and then covered so the hardened steel never touches a rim. The mounting head is stainless with solution treatment and a polished interface, carrying a plastic cover, and a spade cover protects the flange during clamping. The design intent is consistent: every surface that contacts a wheel is a replaceable soft part, and every surface that takes load is hard.
The turntable is driven by a 2.0 HP motor with pure copper windings, chosen for heat dissipation under continuous duty. The body is closed, which keeps the mechanism out of the tire dust and rubber crumb that a busy tire bay generates all day.
Two numbers to confirm before you order
Published figures for this machine's clamping range differ. The specification table further down this listing reads 12" to 24" from the outside and 14" to 26" from the inside; Katool's product data sheet for the same model reads 12" to 22" outside and 14" to 24" inside. If your buying decision turns on the largest rim you can clamp, contact us before you order and we will confirm the current figure against the factory documentation.
The same applies to supply voltage, which appears on this page as both 110V and 120V single-phase (1PH) in different places. It is a single-phase machine either way. Confirm the circuit with us before you wire for it.
Will it fit your shop?
- Wheel envelope. Up to 41" (1,040 mm) overall wheel diameter and up to 15" (380 mm) wheel width.
- Air. A regulated compressed air supply that will refill a post tank between wheels, not merely reach working pressure once.
- Power. Single phase (1PH). Confirm the voltage with us, per the note above.
- Floor. Level concrete, with clearance to swing an assist arm on both sides and room behind the machine for the operator. Bolt it down if your installation calls for it.
- Your responsibility. Bay layout, slab condition, air capacity and electrical supply are the buyer's to verify. We can tell you what the machine needs; we cannot see your floor.
Perfect For
- Dedicated tire shops where difficult sidewalls arrive daily rather than occasionally.
- Performance and modification shops handling low-profile fitments on expensive alloy wheels.
- Busy general service bays that want one changer to cover everything the fleet brings in.
- Commercial fleet workshops running run-flats and reinforced light-truck tires.

Certification, stated plainly
Nothing in this product's data claims a third-party North American safety listing, so this page does not suggest one. Tire changers are not regulated the way vehicle lifts are, and for the overwhelming majority of buyers the question never comes up. Where it does come up is a commercial insurance schedule, a fleet or municipal purchasing rule, or a local code that names a specific listing. If one of those governs your shop, confirm the requirement with the body that imposes it before you order, and ask us what documentation the manufacturer supplies.
Warranty
This model is listed with a one year consumer warranty on product parts. Katool's warranty document is the governing text, so ask us for the current copy if the detail matters to your purchase. Whatever the terms, do not take a machine apart before a claim is opened - a disassembled unit is usually an unpayable claim, however clear the original fault was.
Shipping and delivery
The KT-T830 moves as freight to addresses in the lower 48 states, and at 240 kg (529 lbs) crated it is not a parcel. Freight is priced live at checkout against the address you enter, so the number reflects the carrier's current rate. Getting the crate off the truck is the receiver's job: a forklift, a suitable machine, or a terminal pickup, which is frequently the simpler option because the terminal is already equipped. Residential delivery carries a residential fee, applied at checkout.
Inspect the crate before you sign. Note crushed corners, shifted banding, punctures and any evidence of a drop on the bill of lading in the driver's presence, and photograph what you find. A clean signature is hard to argue with afterwards.
