Katool KT-T800 Wheel Clamp Tire Changer Machine

Katool KT-T800: the one you can plan a bay around

Almost every tire changer listing tells you what the machine will do to a wheel. Very few tell you how much of your building it is going to occupy. The KT-T800 is the exception in this range: Katool publishes an overall width of 40" and an overall height of 56", which means you can chalk it on the floor and see whether the bay works before you spend anything.

That is a small thing that decides real purchases. A changer needs its footprint plus a walking circle for the operator, clearance to swing a tire onto the turntable, and a pedal side you can stand square to. Shops that measure first do not end up with a machine wedged against a wall where the bead breaker arm cannot open.

Will It Fit?

  • Footprint. 40" wide, 56" tall. Add working room on the pedal side and enough clear floor to roll a tire in from the front.
  • Floor. Level concrete. The machine is 186 kg (410 lbs) and it should sit flat and solid; anchor it if your installation calls for it.
  • Power. 110V single phase (1PH), which is the North American configuration for this model. No three-phase supply is required, which is exactly why this machine suits a smaller building.
  • Air. A regulated compressed air supply. The bead breaker, the clamping and the inflation gauge are all pneumatic, so the compressor needs to hold pressure through a bead break rather than merely reach it once.
  • Your responsibility. Measuring the bay, confirming the circuit and checking the floor before delivery are the buyer's to do. We can give you the machine's numbers; we cannot see your building.

Clamping range: 12" to 20" outside, and what that covers

The KT-T800 takes a wheel up to 41" (1,040 mm) in overall diameter and up to 15" (380 mm) wide. Its jaws clamp 12" to 20" from the outside of the rim and 14" to 24" from the inside.

Outside clamping is the gentler of the two: the jaws close on the outer flange under covers and nothing enters the barrel where a pressure sensor or a machined bead seat lives. Inside clamping is the method for wheels too big to grip from outside. So the practical question is simply what comes through your door. If your work is mainstream passenger cars and light trucks on wheels of 20" and under, this machine takes essentially all of it the safe way and there is no reason to spend more. If large-diameter aftermarket wheels are a regular part of the book, look at a changer with a wider outside range instead.

Where the durability actually lives

Katool quotes the jaw treatment rather than describing it, which is unusual and useful: the alloy steel jaws are carburized to a depth of 0.8 to 1.1 mm and then fully quenched. The point of that combination is a hard gripping face on a tough core, so the jaws resist rounding off without becoming brittle under the shock of a bead break. Covers then sit between the jaws and the rim, and the stainless mounting head carries a plastic rim protector.

The design consistently makes the wheel-contact surfaces consumable and the load-bearing surfaces hard. Add a spade cover during clamping and the wheel never touches bare steel at any point in the cycle. The motor is copper wound for heat dissipation under continuous duty, and the body is closed so tire dust stays out of the mechanism.

The pneumatics, and why the lubricator matters

The bead breaker and the mount and demount functions run from a pull-type pedal system, with the inflation gauge on the same circuit so a bead can be charged hands-free. Compressed air arrives at 0.8 to 1.0 MPa, topping out at 145 PSI, and passes through a filter and a lubricator before it reaches anything that moves.

Untreated shop air is wet and dirty. Water rusts cylinder bores and grit chews seals, and a changer fed straight off a compressor loses its pneumatics long before it loses anything else. Oil-drop lubrication and filtration are not a marketing bullet on this class of machine; they are the reason the air side is still working in year five.

Perfect For

  • Small and mid-size independent shops where floor space is the real constraint on what can be installed.
  • General repair bays bringing mounting in house rather than subletting every tire job.
  • Fleet and municipal workshops with a stable, mainstream wheel range.
  • Serious private and club workshops with single-phase power and a proper compressor already installed.

Certification, stated plainly

Nothing in this product's data claims a third-party North American safety listing, so this page does not suggest one. Tire changers are not covered by the listing regime that applies to vehicle lifts, and for almost every buyer the point never comes up. It does come up where a commercial insurance policy, a fleet purchasing rule or a local authority specifies a listing as a condition of use. If that applies to you, confirm the requirement with the party that sets it before ordering, and ask us for the documentation the manufacturer supplies.

Warranty

The KT-T800 is listed with a one year warranty on product parts, governed by Katool's own warranty document rather than by any summary here - ask us for the current copy if the terms bear on your decision. Whatever they say, do not disassemble a faulty machine before the claim is registered. A stripped unit is the single most common reason a legitimate claim gets declined.

Shipping and delivery

This machine ships as freight to addresses in the lower 48 states. The freight figure is produced live at checkout against the address you enter, so it is the carrier's current price. Getting the crate to the ground is the receiver's job: a forklift, a suitable machine, or a terminal pickup, which many buyers prefer because the terminal already has the equipment. Choosing residential delivery adds a residential fee at checkout.

Inspect the crate before signing. Note crushed corners, torn wrapping, shifted banding or any indication of a drop on the bill of lading with the driver present, and take photographs. Signing clean is the carrier's proof that the shipment was undamaged on arrival.
